GEDI NATIONAL PARK
The Gedi National Park, situated on the Kenya coast 19km south of malindi, is a ruined city of Islamic origin dating from the thirteenth century. The Great Mosque, portions of the palace and other dwellings have been partly restored, and deep well cleared of vegetation, which formerly choked them. An information center displays some of the more spectacular finds, which have been made, and sets out what is known of the city's history.
The Gedi ruins are set in the midst of tall coastal forest ad have much of throated Spinetail, a swift that nests in the disused wells.  The following interesting mammals and birds may be seen.

FORT JESUS NATIONAL PARK

Fort Jesus, a seventeenth century Portuguese fort overlooking the India Ocean at Mombassa, was designated a National Park I958. Much reconstruction workhouse been carried out and a historical museum established, in which displays illustrate the culture of the coast from the thirteenth to the nineteenth century.
Two birds of special note may be seen at the Fort. During the day the Indian House crow is common and at dusk the Bat Hawk is often observed.

OLORGESAILIE NATIONAL PARK

Olorgesailie National Park is a 21- hectare prehistoric living site of hand-axe – man, 67km from Nairobi on the Nairobi – Magadi road. It has been developed as a field museum with hand axes and other tools preserved in situ, together with fossils of associated extinct mammals.
The site was developed during the early 1940S by the famous Kenya prehistorian Dr L S B Leakey and Mrs. Leakey.  Later excavations in 1962-1963 have revealed parts of a number of camps and living floors at different levels, and these are now exhibited exactly as they were uncovered. Olergesailie has been acclaimed as one of the most important sites of this period of culture in the world.
In addition to its archaeological importance, olorgesailie and the country surrounding the site is of great zoological interest. The following notable mammals and birds occur there.
