LAMBWE VALLEY GAME RESERVE
The Lambwe Valley Game Reserve in South Nyanza covers an area of approximately 194sq km near the town of Homa Bay on Winam Gulf, Lake Victoria. Access is via the Kisumu-Homa Bay road, a distance of 140km. The Reserve was created to help to preserve the small population of Roan Antelope living there. The terrain is maily rolling Savannah country with some open woodland. Roan Antelope, Oribi and Jackson's Hartebeest can all be seen here more easily than elsewhere in Kenya. Otherwise the Reserve's main interest is in its birdlife.
